Mairi knew from a young age dance would be her life. At age 13 she attended Elmhurst Ballet School in London, where she learnt what it took to become a well-rounded dancer. However, due to her love of Scotland she chose to further her studies in Edinburgh, where she excelled in all forms of dance. This opened the door for her to attend the prestigious Alvin Ailey School of American Dance in New York, where many well known performers, including Madonna trained. Here she had the honour of dancing alongside the Alvin Ailey Company in the very famous Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

With a career taking her around the world, she has been privileged to have performed in a variety of shows, from fashion shows in Japan, trade shows in London, working with top ‘Strictly come dancing’ choreographer Karen Bruce in LA, various pantomime’s in Scotland and one of her favourites, performing as Cookie Monster in Sesame Street Live touring Germany, UK and Dubai. Throughout her working career Mairi has had the opportunity to be trained in and excel in many genres, such as ballroom, salsa, ballet, tap, hip hop and many more.
When returning to Scotland to settle with her husband to be, she was not ready to hang up the old dancing shoes just yet. Whilst dreaming of her own first dance, she thought how lovely it would be to help other couples create their own special dance. This was when MairiMeDance was created and she have never looked back.
Over the past 15 years, Mairi has had the pleasure of choreographing and teaching over 800 couples and has loved ever minute.
